CareersCareers : industry or academic? As stated on the OpSciTech website, "PhD studies are a natural extension of the Course". This does not mean that PhD studies are the only possible extension. Optics being at the boundary of science and engineering, future graduates will indeed be trained for technical or scientific positions in academic or industrial environment specialised in optics or using optics. Each partner institution of the Erasmus Mundus MSc OpSciTech has its own detailed statistics about employment of his graduates. For instance, in Paris, Institut d'Optique Graduate School organizes every year a survey for the last 2 promotions of graduates at Master's degree level. About 30% of our graduates pursue in PhD after their MSc, and most of the others start as professionals in companies in the domain of optics or using optics. The results are available - in French only - on: http://www.institutoptique.fr/formation/Ingenieur-Grande-Ecole/Debouches-et-devenir-des-diplomes (a translation into English will be available later on) Please refer to the "Alumni association" websites of each partner institution (e.g. for Institut d'Optique Graduate School in Paris: http://www.anciens.supoptique.org/ , fully in French). Alumni association(s) The EM MSc OpSciTech programme refers to two opportunities to participate in alumni associations: - the graduates to the Erasmus Mundus Alumni Association (EMA), created in June 2006: http://www.em-a.eu (being a scholarship student opens the right to be a member at no charge) - the students to each alumni association of the 2 institutions involved in his/her study path. updated Oct. 2011
